Attempt at the FLY BY Hovercraft Rally - September 2006 Lake Cargelligo.

AHF Rally - 2006
Imagine 14 craft, side by side - skirt to skirt, with their noses lined up in perfect alignment, flying past at high speed in complete syncronisation. It makes a beautiful picture doesn't it? Reminds me of the RAAF with the Flying Roulettes showcasing their formation flying skills, or the Stormriders - Holden's precision driving team with their adrenaline pumping daredevil routines. Well, in theory it sounds good . . . . . but in reality the picture wasn't quite so pretty.

MacAlister River by hovercraft - Christmas Rally at Lake Glenn Maggie 2007.

MacAlister River - 2007
A very pleasant flight 19 kilometres up the river to a fairly serious section of rapids where we put ashore and decided this would be far enough, as it was the site of the infamous snag that tore so many of Mikes skirts. Paul decided that it wasn't too fierce and had a go at it, followed by Col, then Sam, Peter and finally Ivan. Peter got a bit cocky and had a second go. He should have quit while he was ahead because he found that very same snag, with predictable results.

HCV Hovercraft trip up MacAlister River 2008

MacAlister River - 2008
The now traditional Christmas Rally at Lake Glenn Maggie for the Hovercraft Club of Victoria usually involves a run up the MacAlister River. 2008 was no different with a trip to the rebuilt Cheynes Bridge.

Australian Hovercraft Federation Rally 2008 fly past..... Take one!

AHF Rally - 2008
At every Australian Rally there is always a member or two who wants to do a fly-by. A simple task of keeping the hovercraft on port side on your port side and not going faster than it.
See how it went the first time.

Australian Hovercraft Federation Rally 2008 fly past..... Take two!

AHF Rally - 2008
Well the first flight wasn't too bad, but there was still room for improvement, so we had another go at it. Notice a group of mostly Victorians nearly achieved the unobtainable line abreast.
